Ranieri began his tenure as Fulham boss with a 3-2 victory against Southampton and, despite facing a daunting test against former side Chelsea, he is hopeful Aleksandar Mitrovic can maintain his goalscoring touch.

With Chelsea set to face Fulham on Sunday, Sarri took the time to explain the 67-year-old's influence on him, both in terms of tactics and career path.

"I was always open to other coaches".

"I think that, first of all, we approached the match very well", Sarri said. "He is able to play well in this and I want to see him when we have to play more in the defensive phase. It wasn't very easy to find big motivation, so for this I am very happy".

"New Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri goes back to Stamford Bridge, and he is sure to get a good reception", Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

Ultimately, though, he highlighted what he expects when the two go head to head at Stamford Bridge.
