I don't believe government climate report

  • Al Gore blasts Trump for 'burying' climate report by releasing it on Black Friday

Responding to questions about the economic impacts of climate change, Trump said it doesn't think they will be devastating.

'I don't believe it, ' he told reporters at the White House before he left for campaign rallies in Mississippi.

None of this is particularly surprising: Scientists and other climate change experts have predicted most of these effects before, and the report merely adds to the already huge body of research attesting to the realities of human-induced climate change.

Democrats said the report shows that addressing climate change must become a priority for next year's Congress.

There is still time for us to limit global temperature increases and avoid the worst consequences of climate change, according to the National Climate Assessment.

The report links heat waves, wildfires, hurricanes, flooding, droughts, crop failures, and damage to infrastructure that has already affected USA communities to climate change, and says that "to avoid substantial damages to the us economy, environment, and human health and well-being over the coming decades", people must take aggressive steps to mitigate climate effects and adapt to those that are already inevitable.

Casting doubt on climate change is anything but out of the ordinary for Trump.

Last year, the President announced his intent to withdraw the United States from the 2015 Paris Deal to combat climate change, though the country can not do so until after the 2020 presidential election.

Just this last Wednesday, the President tweeted, "Brutal and Extended Cold Blast could shatter ALL RECORDS - Whatever happened to Global Warming?" Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the newly elected United States congresswoman who's already pushing for better and more aggressive climate action, was among Democratic leaders demanding action in the wake of the report's release.

The report came out on Black Friday, a holiday for most Americans and one of the busiest shopping days of the year, leading critics to charge Trump with trying to bury the findings.

Since there is little or no chance, President Trump will change course, it is essential that states, local governments, and businesses do even more.

"Future climate change is expected to further disrupt many areas of life, exacerbating existing challenges to prosperity posed by aging and deteriorating infrastructure, stressed ecosystems, and economic inequality", the report reads. "It's now CLIMATE CHANGE". I believe there's change, and I believe it goes up and it goes down, and it goes up again'. Ben Sasse told "Fox News Sunday" the US needs to "innovate our way into the future".

In October, Trump said during a visit to inspect hurricane damage in the southern state of Georgia that climate change "is going to go back and forth", rather than be permanent. "We need to always consider the impact to American industry and jobs". Trump has repeatedly dismissed the unanimous conclusion of the country's intelligence community that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 presidential election to help him and hurt Hillary Clinton. Even more damaging, with the Trump Administration's declared intent to withdraw from the Global Climate Change Agreement reached in Paris, we have abandoned the global leadership that helped gain meaningful commitments from China, India, Brazil, and other large carbon emitters.
