  • Saudi Arabia rejects Turkey’s extradition request in Khashoggi killing

Hatice Cengiz, the fiancee of murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, said that she believed Saudi authorities knew the location of his remains.

Last night a close friend of Mr Khashoggi revealed that he was about to obtain "documentary evidence" proving clams that Saudi Arabia had used chemical weapons in its proxy war in Yemen.

Mr Mojeb, who last week acknowledged that the killing was "premeditated" based on Turkish evidence, arrived in Istanbul this morning and is expected to inspect the Saudi consulate where Mr Khashoggi was killed.

"This is an incident that took place in a diplomatic mission".

US President Donald Trump has said Prince Mohammed, who has consolidated control over Saudi security and intelligence agencies over the past three years, bore ultimate responsibility for the operation that led to Khashoggi's killing.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told a media briefing the administration was "weighing different options" and would make an announcement.

Turkey is seeking the extradition of the Saudi suspects detained for the killing in the Saudi Consulate, which happened after Khashoggi entered the building on October 2. "I want justice to be served not only for those who murdered Jamal but those who ordered his murder".

Ms. Cengiz said she had not been contacted by Prince Mohammed or the Saudi royal family, nor offered any condolences by them. Saudi Arabia's foreign minister appeared to reject that notion in remarks on Saturday, saying the kingdom would try the perpetrators and bring them to justice after the investigation is completed.

Saudi Arabia has detained 18 people and dismissed five senior government officials as part of the investigation into Khashoggi's murder.

Sources have told MEE that Khashoggi was tortured, murdered and dismembered by a hit squad of 15 Saudis sent to Istanbul to kill him.

Sarah Leah Whitson, executive director of the Middle East and North Africa division of Human Rights Watch, delivered a heartfelt tribute to Khashoggi, whom she described as "the Saudi man who would not bow down".

US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis said Sunday that Jubeir had assured him Riyadh would conduct a "full" investigation, adding he was confident the probe would include Turkey's findings.

He continued to say that Saudi Arabia must reform and "do penance for this appalling crime", partially "to ensure the substantial British interests engaged with Saudi Arabia are not toxified entirely by association with a slide into terror".

He clarified later that the murder and cover-up should have never happened. "I want justice for my beloved Jamal".

"Let's not let money taint our conscience and compromise our values".

Turkish law required that Khashoggi, who was divorced, provide proof that he did not have a wife and thus his trip to the consulate.

They say they have audio and video evidence to support this claim.

Turkish officials have said the journalist was tortured and killed on the consulate premises and that his body was then removed.

"Like everyone else, I am still waiting for answers", she said.
