The report itself includes 45 pages of interview summaries, 1,600 extra pages of information that the Federal Bureau of Investigation included as coming into their tip line, CNN reported.

Several Democratic senators that have come out against Kavanaugh said the judge doesn't deserve the presumption of innocence and one senator, Sen.

"After doing my due diligence and now that the record is apparently closed, I will vote against his confirmation", she said.

If Kavanaugh is confirmed by the Senate in a vote planned for Saturday, Trump will have succeeded in placing his second justice on the top USA court and fulfilled his pledge to solidify its conservative majority. The only non-committed Democrat as of Thursday afternoon is Sen.

The letter also says Kavanaugh gave "intemperate, inflammatory" responses and was "discourteous" to senators.

Now the wait it on for the other three key Republican senators to cast their vote.

The battling commenced as the conservative jurist's prospects for winning Senate confirmation to the Supreme Court remained at the mercy of five undeclared senators, with an initial, critical vote looming Friday.

Ford's attorneys said in a statement that they were "profoundly disappointed" in the probe.

The protesters include a loud contingent from ME, and they're calling on Susan Collins, a key Republican senator, to vote against Kavanaugh. So all we know is what we've heard from senators and people at the White House who have seen it or been briefed on it.

While some Democrats have lent credence to her claims, most senators have avoided them.

But White House spokesman Raj Shah said: "What critics want is a never-ending fishing expedition into high school drinking".

Ford was seated at a table in the packed hearing room flanked by her lawyers, facing a bank of senators. I don't remember. Where was the place?

While some Republicans and Trump have called the allegations by Ford and the two other women part of a smear campaign, Ford told the committee she had no political motivation, adding, "I am an independent person and I am no pawn".

At the MS rally, Trump also turned his ire on Julie Swetnick, who claims Kavanaugh took part in efforts at parties during high school to get girls intoxicated so that groups of boys could have sex with them.

Trump nominated Kavanaugh on July 10 but decades-old accusations of sexual assault created drama and logistical hurdles late in the confirmation process.

All eyes are on those key Republicans who could make or break the confirmation - Jeff Flake of Arizona, Susan Collins of ME and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Even she backpedaled on some of the details during her interview with NBC.

Speaking to reporters after reviewing the FBI report, Collins said it "appears to be a very thorough investigation".

"I am taking everything into account and I think the comments by the president yesterday mocking Dr. Ford were wholly inappropriate", Murkowski said.

Heitkamp has been viewed as a potential swing vote and one of the senators who could decide the fate of the nomination.

Collins on Wednesday called Trump's scoffing at Ford "just plain wrong".

However, senior Democrats attacked the process, calling the investigation "incomplete" and accusing the White House of limiting its scope. Amy Klobuchar said that she supported "a finite period for an FBI investigation, maybe a week". When this happens, the FBI may be asked to conduct an additional, supplemental investigation, narrowly targeted to those matters. Dick Durbin noted that, because the background checks are confidential, the Democrats are limited in what they can say publicly about them.
