Trump Mocks Attorney General Sessions for Republican Indictments

Trump acknowledged that he was stuck with Sessions just days ago in an interview in which he committed to keeping his attorney general right where he is until the November elections.
Trump's suggestion that Sessions should have withheld charges against two fellow Republicans for purely political reasons seemed a remarkably unapologetic blurring of a traditional line between presidential authority and the law.
President Donald Trump escalated his attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday, suggesting the Department of Justice put Republicans in midterm jeopardy with recent indictments of two GOP congressmen. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Duncan Hunter of Alpine, who was charged last month with spending campaign funds on personal expenses and falsifying federal reports on his political finances, and Chris Collins of NY, who two weeks earlier was accused of insider trading and lying to the FBI.
Trump has frequently pilloried Sessions for recusing himself from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of possible collusion with Russian Federation to tilt the 2016 U.S. election toward the real estate billionaire.
Senator Ben Sasse, Republican of Nebraska, criticized the president's tweet.
Mr Trump's fresh attack on Mr Sessions was the latest development in his long-running feud with the attorney general. "Instead of commenting on ongoing investigations and prosecutions, the job of the President of the United States is to defend the Constitution and protect the impartial administration of justice". He even compares him to former FBI director James B. Comey, who has said Trump repeatedly requested loyalty and even suggested he back off unhelpful investigations.
Trump followed up the first tweet with another, saying Democrats must now love Sessions, just like "Lyin' James Comey".
Trump's second tweet is a lie. Immediately he became a wonderful man, a saint like figure in fact. The Hunter investigation began under Obama.
The White House had no comment on Trump's tweets, but said he chose to not leave the White House and focus on trade calls.
