Hurricane Florence could produce extreme flooding to North Carolina

"It is still expected to be a large and extremely unsafe hurricane when it makes landfall", expected late Thursday. Among the airports commonly mentioned are those in North and SC, as well as Norfolk and Richmond, VA and Savannah, GA.
A hurricane warning is in effect from the South Santee River in SC to Duck, North Carolina.
The hurricane will weaken slightly before it makes landfall on Thursday as it encounters morewind shear, but Florence should still be a major hurricane at landfall along the central North Carolina coast.
"It's not just the coast", Mr Graham said. Forecast models suggest that more than two feet of rain could fall over the higher elevations of the Carolinas and Virginia, which would generate risky flooding downstream.
