Another was shot and wounded by police.

"Anyone who is a student of history must know that Zanu PF wants to hide on claiming victory in the rural areas where they traditionally manipulate the rural vote". The result in the presidential vote is due by 4 August but expected sooner.

The observers expressed concern about delays in releasing the results of the presidential contest.

"I will stay here until Chamisa is president", said Amandishe Muzhinji, who traveled back from Swaziland where he works as a migrant laborer to vote in Monday's election.

At least 23 candidates are part of the Presidential race although the stiff competition is between ZANU-PF's Mnangagwa and MDC's Nelson Chamisa.

"The presence of the army is not to intimidate people but to ensure that law and order is maintained". They will remain under police command, the spokeswoman, Charity Charamba said.

The President said the MDC Alliance leadership has to remove its violent supporters from the streets forthwith so that peace returns in the country.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) said Wednesday that of 210 parliamentary seats, 153 had been counted with ZANU-PF winning 110 and the MDC Alliance 41. "This time we will not allow it, we will fight", said one protester who wore a red MDC beret in central Harare.

This saga, however, should take an interesting turn soon, as Leicester City are not at all interested in selling the Englishman. The player, for his part, seemed open to a move of a club of United's stature when speaking to the Sun recently.

Election observers from the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) bloc said the vote was peaceful and orderly and opened the door to strengthen the country's democracy.

He has repeatedly accused ZANU-PF and election authorities of trying to use a flawed electoral register and fixed ballot papers to steal the election. Officers responded with tear gas, water cannon and rubber bullets.

This group has lost all faith in the electoral system and says they will not stop until their man is in the top job - except that's not quite how elections work. We've more votes than ED.

While the electoral commission has five days from the end of voting to release the final tally, the national mood was growing anxious partly because unofficial results are already swirling on social media.

If no presidential candidate wins more than 50 per cent of the vote, a runoff will be held September 8. Waves of bloodshed have roiled previous general elections, as Mugabe's government cracked down on his increasingly restive people. Zec has until Saturday to do so.

The EU observer mission said "a truly level playing field was not achieved" in the election, pointing out the "misuse of state resources, instances of coercion and intimidation, partisan behaviour by traditional leaders and overt bias in state media". And authorities welcomed it as such, as well, inviting worldwide election monitors to observe the elections for the first time in about 16 years. "It is so obvious that rigging has taken place since Monday".

The regional SADC bloc, in its preliminary report, said Wednesday that the campaign and election had "proceeded in a peaceful and orderly manner and were largely in line" in Zimbabwean law.
