Trump admits son met Russian for information on opponent

  • Trump blasts media at Pennsylvania rally

"Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower", Trump wrote.

Trump's morning Twitter post was his most direct statement on the objective of the meeting, though his son and others have said it was to gather damaging information on the Democratic candidate.

Zeitz described Trump "calling me a third-rate lawyer", explaining he knew it was a good sign because it meant "I had gotten to him".

On Sunday, CNN and the Washington Post reported that Trump was becoming increasingly agitated over the possibility that Donald Jr. would become the focus of a probe into alleged Russian meddling, claiming it has fuelled the president's recent social media attacks on special counsel Robert Mueller.

According to the Washington Post, a Trump adviser said the president does not think his son broke the law on goal but fears he inadvertently may have wandered into legal jeopardy'.

Since that point, it has resulted in charges against 32 individuals and three Russian companies and five guilty pleas, including those from Trump's deputy campaign chairman and his initial national security adviser.

However, he subsequently admitted he had agreed to the meeting after being told he would be offered information that would prove detrimental to Mrs Clinton.

"I make this joke that ... no matter what the legal team recommends, if we recommend that the president were to give the interview, which I think the inclination is not at this point ... you're going to get 12 lawyers on there saying I can't believe that Sekulow and Giuliani and all the other lawyers allowed the president to do it", Sekulow said.

"I wasn't involved in the statement drafting at all, nor was the president", Sekulow claimed in July 2017. Donald (Don) John TrumpTrump fears his son may have inadvertently gotten into legal trouble: report Krystal Ball blasts Nazi comparisons by Trump Jr.

In hundreds of such videos that have surfaced on the internet, people are seen crashing into poles and tripping on potholes. A Florida man's attempt at the " In My Feelings " challenge went wrong when he was hit by a vehicle during the stunt.

Trump has recently come under fire for his own role in the 2016 meeting, as former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen claimed that the president knew about the meeting in advance - something Trump has previously denied.

Legal experts have often pointed to a possible violation of federal election laws, which ban taking anything of value - which could include information on a political opponent - from a foreign government trying to influence a US election.

President Trump is also correct when he suggests that most political campaigns would have been as interested as his was in obtaining negative information about its opponent from a Russian willing to provide it.

"The question is, how would it be illegal?" he asked. Betraying no surprise or misgivings about the offer from a hostile foreign power, Trump Jr. replied: "If it's what you say I love it especially later in the summer".

One of the names at the center of the Trump/Russia scandal, which continues to pop up, is the President's eldest son Donald Trump Jr.

Sen. Rubio drew the ire of conservatives and Trump supporters in July when he said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation did nothing wrong by spying on Trump's campaign advisor, Carter Page.

"When you look at a meeting that took place a year before - now two years ago - the question is, what law, statute, rule or regulation's been violated, and nobody's pointed to one", Sekulow added. Mueller was appointed to take over the probe after the firing. Her unannounced presence raised some eyebrows as Hicks has been interviewed by Mueller and was part of the team of staffers that helped draft the original statement on the Trump Tower meeting.

Trump's days of private anger spilled out into public with the Twitter outburst, which comes at a perilous time for the president.
