Survivors of deadly tour boat explosion airlifted to the US

It's unclear what caused the explosion, although it appeared to involve the engine.

Her sister Brooke and father Paul received only minor injuries, while her mom broke several bones, per ABC7.

Stefanie Schaffer, 22, is in a medically induced coma, and is thought to be unaware both her legs have been amputated, her uncle told USA media.

Twelve people were on the boat, 10 Americans and two Bahamians.

The boating accident occurred off the coast of the town of Barraterre on the island of Exuma.

He said his niece remains in critical condition in a medically induced coma at a Nassau hospital. The page raised more than $60,000 in one day.

"Stefanie and Brooke Schaffer were traveling on vacation with their mother and stepfather, Stacey and Paul Bender".

The Vermont Center for Dance Education said Ms Schaffer had been a part of their "dance family" for years.

Schaffer also suffered broken arms, a fractured spine and internal injuries, The Rutland Herald reported.

Video of the explosion's aftermath has emerged.

The explosion appeared to completely engulf the boat in flames as thick, black smoke pillowed into the sky.

Stefanie sustained life-threatening injuries.
