If San Antonio gets serious about trading Kawhi Leonard, the Celtics, according to multiple league sources, would like to be involved.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in play, with reports stating the offer to the Spurs could include Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart and Brandon Ingram for Leonard, who has expressed he wants to play in Los Angeles and will be entering the a year ago of a contract, meaning if he's not signed by the team he's traded to, if he's traded this offseason, he'll be a costly rental.

The stakes on these talks are enormous because the teams believe a deal for Leonard would likely clinch a free-agent commitment out of LeBron James to the Lakers.

When he requested for a trade, Leonard said that his preferred destination is the Los Angeles Lakers.

In March, Parker told Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News that his quad injury from the previous year was "a hundred times worse" than what Leonard was dealing with.

In addition, they could add in the draft rights of their No. 25 pick in last week's draft, Moritz Wagner, while they are also pursuing an additional first-round pick.

World Cup Group H match report Poland v Colombia 24 June 2018
Colombia will next face Senegal on Thursday in Samara with a chance to win the group, while Poland will play Japan in Volgograd. One more match, still so much to play for.

It was reported earlier this week that the Spurs are ready to move on from Leonard.

The Lakers have roughly $60 million in salary-cap space they could use to sign James and perhaps another top-tier free agent such as Paul George of the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, the Spurs are insisting on a much bigger haul than the Lakers are offering.

However, the Lakers could receive some help from Leonard, who is due to become a free agent next summer.

The Lakers could potentially construct a superteam of LeBron, Kawhi and Paul George - but according to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, LeBron is already planning for a future partnership with Golden State's Kevin Durant.

Stay tuned for more free agency madness. Whether or not they bet the farm and go in too deep, with nothing to surround Leonard and perhaps LeBron with, is a whole other can of beans. The handling of Leonard's injury created tension in the locker room as Leonard played only nine games during the 2017-18 season. They were a lot younger the last time I made a decision like this four years ago (when he returned to Cleveland after four seasons with the Miami Heat).
