  • At least four dead as blasts gunfire rock Jalalabad in Afghanistan

Gunmen entered the general finance directorate in Jalalabad, capital of Nangarhar province bordering Pakistan, said Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor.

Inamullah Miakhial, a Nangarhar hospital spokesman, also confirmed the dead toll and said that more than 40 wounded people are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

He said security forces killed six of the attackers after two of them carried out suicide attacks near the building's entrance.

Militants have staged several attacks across Afghanistan this year. Witnesses said the explosions had caused carnage among passers-by. More explosions were then heard coming from inside the building.

Taliban militants and fighters of Islamic State outfit have presence in the province, some 120 km east of Afghan capital of Kabul.

National Hockey League playoffs 2018: Golden Knights vs. Jets preview and prediction
The Jets are strong down the middle, have a lethal power play and a quick-strike ability that has the potential to bury teams. Marc-Andre Fleury and backup goalie Malcom Subban were out for extended periods of time, and they kept winning.

No individual or group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the attack.

The Taliban recently launched their annual spring offensive, in an apparent rejection of a peace overture by the Afghan government.

Operation Al Khandaq will target USA forces and "their intelligence agents" as well as their "internal supporters", a Taliban statement said in late April.

Kabul has become one of the deadliest places in the country for civilians as security forces struggle to keep the militants at bay following the withdrawal of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation combat forces at the end of 2014.
