  • Author Terry Mc Millan responded to Bill Cosby's conviction on Thursday by tweeting

"We are very disappointed by the verdict", he said.

The disgraced comedian first went to trial a year ago, and the case ended in a mistrial after the jury failed to deliver a verdict.

"I didn't want him to see how confident I am and how attractive I am and how that truly I've grown from a young girl into a fierce, devoted mom and a loyal woman to all women's causes", she continued.

The judge asked Cosby where his passport was surrendered when he initially posted bail and where he lives now. His prior rulings suggest he may allow Cosby to remain on home confinement.

Cosby remains free on $1 million bail after his conviction on charges that he drugged and molest a woman in 2004.

"I'm not simply going to lock him up right now", the judge said, citing his age and his track record of appearing at every hearing for two and a half years.

O'Neill said he issued Friday's order to "clarify" the restrictions.

"Cosby's lawyers would be wise to settle the cases early and quickly if funds are available", Callan said.

According to court documents, Judge Steven O'Neill also ordered that the 80-year-old wear a Global Positioning System monitor. His defense attorney plans to appeal the verdict.

Prosecutors used Cosby's past admissions about drugs and sex, as well as the testimony of five other women, to back up accuser Andrea Constand's allegations. His lawyer, Tom Mesereau, has said "the fight is not over" and said he will appeal. "It's just moving from trial ending to the next phase", said Benson. The second jury of seven men and five women took 14 hours to reach their unanimous decision following a 14-day trial.

"These women have no evidence".

Lublin made a decision to go to the police, but officers told her there was nothing they could do.

While judges do not always allow evidence of previous bad actions in court, they may do so if it shows a pattern of behavior, said Douglas Wigdor, an attorney who represents plaintiffs in sexual harassment cases.

Lawyers not connected with the case said the defense might have a winning argument. "I think he's got a very weak appeal with respect to the other acts witnesses". Cosby faces up to 10 years in prison for each of three counts of aggravated indecent assault. But there is a possibility that Cosby won't spend the maximum of 30 years in prison. "However, we have to look at a merger of those counts to determine what the final maximum will be", Steele said. But Cosby's sentence is only the first step in the process.

The first Cosby trial was months before Harvey Weinstein's public downfall and the beginning of the reckoning.

Cosby's sentencing hearing will occur within the next 90 days.

So far, women who have brought defamation claims against Cosby have had mixed success. "Within a few minutes, I remember starting to feel dizzy, I started getting woozy and I could hear him talking to me, explaining things, but I couldn't understand the words he was saying".

But ultimately, the length of his sentence would not change his guilty conviction.

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission. "That's definitely an important moment in history".
