  • Hamas: Gaza unemployed will 'snipe at Israel from a distance'

Yusef al Mahmoud, spokesperson for the Palestinian Authority (PA) said that Washington and London's opposition to the resolution "turns them into accomplices in the horrific massacre committed by the Israeli occupation army against our defenseless people", the Times of Israel reported.

"Faris al-Riqib, 29, was injured in the abdomen east of Khan Younis on Friday and died today", ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said in a statement.

Hundreds of others were reportedly wounded, many of them by live fire, leading to calls for an independent investigation by the European Union and the UN's secretary-general, Antonio Guterres.

Israeli soldiers attacked, Monday, dozens of Palestinian protesters on their lands near border areas, in several parts of the Gaza Strip, and injured twelve Palestinians with live fire, in addition to causing dozens to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation.

Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar on Sunday warned that the unemployed of Gaza would continue to clash with Israeli forces following the riots at the Israel-Gaza borderfence Friday.

But the Israeli army said Sunday that it would not change its open-fire policy towards Gazan protesters who approach the border fence. "Our unemployed have no work in Gaza but they have found employment on your border, destroying your construction equipment and shooting you point blank", he told a crowd of thousands in Gaza City.

Human rights groups have accused the army of using excessive force, and both the United Nations secretary-general and the European Union's foreign policy chief have urged an investigation.

Adam Lallana injury worries Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
Sadio Mane saw a penalty appeal waved away, and a goal disallowed, before he scored the equaliser early in the second half.

But video from the scene showed at least a handful of incidents in which people appear to have been shot either far from the border or while they were not actively rioting.

The Israeli military accused Hamas of releasing videos that were either incomplete, edited or "completely fabricated". The militant group Islamic Jihad said the man had been a member.

Israel said it had directed fire at "suspicious figures near the border fence", though he was killed more than a kilometer away from it.

The protests began on Friday, March 30, known as "Land Day", marking the anniversary of the 1976 killing of six Palestinians protesting the Israeli confiscation of Arab land. The date is mourned by Palestinians as their "nakba", or catastrophe, when hundreds of thousands were uprooted in the 1948 Mideast war over Israel's creation.

The vast majority of Gaza residents are descendants of Palestinians who fled or were driven from communities in what is now Israel.

Israel accuses Hamas, the Islamist group that runs Gaza and with whom it has fought three wars since 2008, of using the protest as cover to carry out violence.
