Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi after 21 Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs were detained by police while marching towards his residence to demand special status for Andhra Pradesh. Five MPs of YSR Congress, who is also supporting the cause, announced their resignation from the Lower House on Friday to protest against the NDA government's "failure" in the case. "It is very sad that when the MPs went to meet the PM, he got them detained instead of giving them an audience. We strongly condemn this (the detention of MPs) and entirely support their demand", Kejriwal told reporters after meeting the parliamentarians. They were forcefully removed.

The hours-long drama ended only at night after the TDP MPs were marshalled out of the House. "Mr Modi assured me that he would justly refer to Andhra Pradesh in all the meetings we jointly addressed during the 2014 polls".

On Friday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu accused the Centre of acting in an autocratic manner and scuttling the various efforts to bring the no-trust motion up for discussion in Parliament, PTI reported. "The Centre's stance is totally undemocratic", the Chief Minister said. The two leaders also discussed the special category status promised to Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu has appealed to the AIADMK, which is the third largest entity in the Lok Sabha after the BJP and the Congress, to support the no-confidence-motion paving the way for the BJP's ouster.
