  • Hunt underway for driver who tried to ram French soldiers

Police have arrested a man in Grenoble after a group of soldiers were nearly hit by a auto while jogging near their barracks in south-eastern France.

The driver attempted to ram his vehicle into troops jogging outside their base in Varces-Allieres-et-Risset, near Grenoble, who threw themselves in a ditch to escape the auto.

On March 23, Redouane Lakdim, a 26-year-old Moroccan national who reportedly obtained a French citizenship in 2015, hijacked a vehicle in the city of Carcassonne and then took several people hostage at a supermarket in Trebes.

A group of soldiers from the 93rd Mountain Artillery Regiment had just started jogging when the vehicle rushed towards them, France Bleu said.

The 10 soldiers managed to get out of the way of the auto, which sped off after the attack.

Police were frantically searching for the driver who accelerated to flee the spot after the failed attempt.

"I mean India is so big, one state could be as big as Britain", he said in response to Labour MP Paul Farrelly. Meanwhile, Cambridge Analytica said on Tuesday that Wylie has no direct knowledge of their work or practices.

The incident caused a flurry of alarm coming days after an Islamic State loyalist went on a rampage in southern France last Friday, killing four people.

The people of Trebes paid an emotional farewell to the three local victims at a ceremony in the square of the sleepy town on the Canal du Midi, held a day after a national tribute to Beltrame in Paris led by President Emmanuel Macron.

Four people died before the attacker was gunned down.

After a stand-off lasting several hours, Lakdim shot Beltrame.

The 25-year-old was eventually killed in a hail of bullets after anti-terror cops stormed the Super U store. In August, police shot and arrested a man who deliberately rammed his auto into soldiers beginning a patrol in a plush Paris suburb, injuring six.
