Bailey Davis, ex-New Orleans Saints cheerleader, says National Football League team's policies discriminate

But then after that, the team saw a photo of her in a one-piece bathing suit on her private Instagram and deemed it violating their rules of appearing nude, semi-nude or in lingerie.

The Times also says the team was looking into whether she attended a party attended by Saints players - a rule violation Davis denies.

The Saints say that the rules have been set in place to protect cheerleaders from players preying on them. Cheerleaders are also to avoid contact with players both IRL and online, which means blocking them on social media, which isn't always an easy feat since many of 2,000 players in the National Football League go by pseudonyms on the internet. Cheerleaders must block football players who contact them on social media and are not allowed to follow players on social networks.

Davis's complaint further asserts that her firing was the result of policies which force Saints cheerleaders to avoid all contact with players, both online and in-person while making no such requirements and threats of termination towards players.

Though the Saintsations website still lists Bailey Davis as a member, the 22-year-old dancer says she was sacked after three seasons with the squad for posting a photo of herself in a one-piece outfit to Instagram.

"If a cheerleader is in a restaurant and a player arrives afterward, she must leave". If a Saints cheerleader enters a restaurant and a player is already there, she must leave.

'For now, it is sufficient to say that Ms Davis was not subjected to discrimination because of her gender'. But it came with stern rules; the team banned any fraternization with players. Blackwell said Davis was wearing part of a Halloween costume in the picture in question, which she said was taken by a professional photographer.

"The New Orleans Saints is an equal opportunity employer, and it denies that Ms. Davis was discriminated against because she is female". Those players proved to be too costly for the Saints, but the team thinks there will be other opportunities to plug the gaps before the draft.

"Very poor judgement to post a picture like that especially considering our recent conversations about the rumors going around about u", Deaton wrote Davis in a text message. "I'd expect you to know better".

New Orleans is the latest team whose regulations for cheerleaders have been questioned, The New York Times reported. Davis also contends, "The antiquated stereotype of women needing to hide for their own protection is not permitted in America and certainly not in the workplace". Buffalo Bills cheerleaders, before the squad disbanded in the face of a wage lawsuit, said they were told to do jumping jacks in tryouts to see if their flesh jiggled and had to attend a golf tournament for sponsors in which wealthy men paid cash to watch bikini-clad cheerleaders do back flips.

"We want equality", Blackwell said, CBS New Orleans affiliate WWL-TV reports. She was told it could attract attention from players.
