It has been only a week since Super Bowl LII, but things got really spicy in the last seven days with regards to the Indianapolis Colts head coaching search.

The 56-year-old Reich, a former National Football League quarterback, began his coaching career in 2006 as an intern with the Colts and eventually was promoted to coach the quarterbacks and wide receivers until 2012.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard was left to explain the embarrassing circumstances in which McDaniels reneged on a deal.

Reich spent four seasons as an assistant coach in Indianapolis before moving on the Cardinals, Chargers and Eagles, spending the last two seasons as Philadelphia's offensive coordinator. Reich, as offensive coordinator, helped devise a game plan that put up 41 points on the Patriots in the win. McDaniels called Colts general manager Chris Ballard later that evening and reneged on the agreement, saying he made a decision to stay with New England.

According to ESPN.com, Reich is the favorite to land the Colts job and and the deal is basically done.

The Eagles offense cruised through the playoffs despite having to turn to quarterback Nick Foles after Carson Wentz was injured.

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich has agreed to a five-year contract to become the Colts head man on the sidelines, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Facing a lot of hard work and even quite a few dismissals, Reich's story goes to show what a difference a day makes. The Eagles have also suffered two big losses to their staff since the Super Bowl.

The Colts might actually stumble into a better hire than originally thought.

Meanwhile, Colts officials will be in Atlanta on Monday to pay their respects to Edwin Jackson, the 26-year-old linebacker who was killed in a drunken driving crash on February 4.
