Alex Bowman-the driver replacing retired Dale Earnhardt the No. 88 Chevrolet-has captured his first pole of the 2018 NASCAR season, as he came in first on Sunday in qualifying for next week's Daytona 500. His lap at 195.644 miles per hour was only a few ticks faster than Denny Hamlin, who will be joining Bowman on the front row for the 60th running of the Great American Race.

Alex Bowman enjoyed a great debut in the No. 88 auto that once belonged to Dale Earnhardt Jr. "We knew we were going for the pole, that's what we're here to do, and thought we were at a little disadvantage letting the vehicle cool down as long as we did since we went pretty early in the first round, was a little nervous for that second round". "The reality of it will probably be a little bit more sad than what I'm making it out to be right now, but I'm ready".

"It's a dream come true just to drive for Hendrick Motorsports", Bowman said.

"No guarantee that we will ever check the rest of them off, but to have the chance to do it and to see the races we have won as a team the past three years I never thought it was possible".

Bowman finished first in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series' qualifying session at Daytona, notching a 195.644 miles per hour time.

Bowman rotated with Jeff Gordon in 2016 when Earnhardt missed half the season due to concussions, but this will be his first season as a full-time driver at Hendrick. Her on-track struggles throughout the last two seasons - notching one top-10 finish in 72 races, compared with five between 2014 and 2015 - overshadowed one of the best streaks of her career in July with four-consecutive top-15 finishes.

"The way it looks in Atlanta will be even better than it was here, and when we get to Homestead, I'd like to say we'll be done but we won't".

But England got off to a dream start as Willey had danger-man Warner caught behind from the third ball of the innings on just two. Jos Buttler admitted they failed to soak in the pressure as they slipped to their second loss in T20I tri-series.

"So, we would have surely found a way to put something together, but it just didn't come together fast enough". Last season, Truex started 35th in the Daytona 500 and finished 13th.

Bowman sat out the entire 2017 season to help develop Hendrick Motorsports racing simulator.

"I literally am so ecstatic", Hamlin said.

"I didn't think we would run that fast", Harvick admitted. "We've run well over 220 scans by this point and so far, so good".

"It was really just to do Daytona and Indy and The Clash wasn't a priority", she said. She will re-connect with long-time sponsor GoDaddy for the race.
