Wynn, who is chairman and CEO of the company he founded, is a titan in Las Vegas and played a major role in the revitalisation of the Las Vegas Strip in the 1990s.

Just this election cycle, Wynn has given $100,000 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Wynn was appointed to head the RNC's finance committee in January 2017.

USA casino mogul Steve Wynn has stepped down as finance chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), becoming the latest powerful figure to surrender an influential post amid allegations of sexual misconduct. Wynn also reportedly pressured a massage therapist and a manicurist to have sex with him on multiple occasions, according to the WSJ. A hotline was established to report incidents of harassment; now the hotline has not received any reports regarding Steve Wynn.

The company says it is committed to operating with the "highest ethical standards and maintaining a safe and respectful culture".

The announcements come in light of a Wall Street Journal report Friday that Wynn, a casino mogul and prolific Republican donor, sexually harassed several women. "We find ourselves in a world where people can make allegations, regardless of the truth, and a person is left with the choice of weathering insulting publicity or engaging in multi-year lawsuits", he added.

Morgan Stanley analysts Praveen Choudhary, Jeremy An and Thomas Allen wrote in a Sunday note: "The share price [of Wynn Macau Ltd] has more than tripled since [Cotai casino resort] Wynn Palace opened its doors in August 2016".

The billionaire businessman has been accused of a decades-long pattern of sexual harassment and abuse toward workers at his casinos, reported on Friday.

"Today I accepted Steve Wynn's resignation as Republican National Committee finance chair", Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Ronna Romney McDaniel said in a statement on Saturday that did not reference the harassment allegations. "Our work continues and will require us to be nimble and refine our procedures as times demand".
