  • EARLY LOOK: Weekend winter storm could bring several inches of snow to central Indiana

Despite temperatures reaching the mid-50s Friday, a winter storm warning has been issued until 1 p.m. Saturday.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM today, bringing additional accumulations.

Winds at times could be damaging. Northwest winds will gust as high as 25 to 35 miles per hour this morning, creating areas of blowing and drifting snow. Not only does that impact how fast the system will move through, but also how fast the cold air will get here.

The conditions for freezing rain are slowly moving toward the east coast, affecting central and northern New England.

Friday Morning: This system starts as rain on Friday morning for the Mid-State.

Places such as Little Rock, Arkansas, have already experienced this change. The transition period for the snow will begin around 5 a.m. EST in our western counties.

West Virginia, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and NY, are also under water in some areas. But as temperatures dropped below freezing and streets covered with snow and ice, there were people downtown who still had to work and find their way home in the hazardous conditions.

Much of the Northeast still has snow on the ground and ice floating in the rivers after weeks of being in a deep freeze. As a result a cold rain continued to fall.

Friday is very warm and wet with plenty of rain.
