"Do they think they will calm the barbaric, Muslim, group-raping hordes of men this way?"

(Web Desk) - A police investigation is undergoing after a German politician tweeted inflammatory anti-Muslim comments on the eve of the New Year.

The Twitter account of Beatrix von Storch, deputy leader of Germany's AfD party, was temporarily suspended on Monday, but she was later posting again on the site. The Cologne police, meanwhile, said on Monday that they have filed a criminal complaint against von Storch for hate speech.

Mrs von Storch, 46, was suspended from Twitter for... However, she was also blocked by Facebook.

Rainer Wendt, who heads the right-leaning DpolG union, said that establishing a safe zone sends a "devastating message". "Why does an official police site tweet in Arabic", she wrote.

She posted the same comment on Facebook, which then also took it down, citing "incitement to hate (paragraph 130 of the German penal code)".

Having started off her career as a banker, von Storch went on to become a lawyer before entering politics.

Alternative for Germany seized 92 parliamentary seats in the September elections-the strongest showing for a far-right party in the post-war era-as it capitalized on discontent over the more than one million asylum seekers who have arrived in Germany since 2015.

"As a point of fact", she continued, "public censorship now exists in Germany despite the fact that it is outlawed by the German constitution".
